Review of A Dream For Peace
A Dream for Peace is a memoir written by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah. In this wonderful book, he chronicles his life's experiences. He was born in a small town in Algeria's Constantine province. In addition, he came from a humble yet strong and proud family. He was born during the colonization of his nation by the French authorities. He presents a detailed history of his family and community in the opening chapter of the book.
His father, a jeweler, was the head of his family, and he lived with them. It's tragic that he died while he was a small child, leaving his mother to shoulder all the family's duties alone. He excelled in his studies and was even awarded scholarships to study abroad. Algeria's economic, social, and political situation at this time is well-documented. He accomplished a great deal and worked relentlessly to bring peace to the world.
This is a book that took me two days to finish reading. It is divided into seventeen chapters and contains 632 pages. It's a novel that'll make you feel a variety of emotions as you read it. The author told his life story in an excellent manner. The beautiful cover of the book appealed to me. I'm not going to say much about the book's title, which was thoughtfully chosen to complement the content. However, the section of the book that I liked the most was how it was loaded with inspirational anecdotes.
The characters were well-developed, with sufficient background information provided. I wasn't expecting to enjoy a memoir as much as I did. The author's life will astonish you as it unfolds. The book was extremely well-written and interesting to read. The author's writing style is fantastic. It was not complicated, despite a few terms used in the book. The book's story is primarily told from the first-person perspective. This contributes to the story's credibility.
The author included pictures while writing this book. For example, you'll find some of his pictures from various events, as well as those of the locations mentioned in the story. The book is jam-packed with various themes. The story, for example, contains themes of colonialism, racial prejudice, education, culture, motherhood, family mortality, and governance. I enjoyed the author's personality throughout the book. I admired his commitment to achieving peace. Furthermore, I also admired his opposition to policies that lead to persecution.
The section of the book that I liked the most is when Dr. Ghoulem Berrah stages a protest after being racially assaulted. He was only a student, yet he set an example with his actions. The section of the book that I liked the least portrayed the inhumanity perpetrated against Africans by Algeria's racist colonial authorities. In the book, the author included a clear table of contents.
The book contained a few difficult words, and I believe the author could have provided a glossary to provide a more detailed explanation. There was nothing about the book that I disliked. I only detected one mistake while reading. It was a fantastic book, full of motivational anecdotes. It was also exceptionally well-edited. As a result, I've given it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I would recommend it to everyone who enjoys reading inspirational autobiographies.
