Almost all of us have heard about Bitcoin. We know Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency. But many of us might not know how cryptocurrencies work. The reach of cryptocurrency is growing, and it is being installed in the financial ecosystem at an exponential rate. Bitcoin was the first of an entirely new way of thinking about money and transacting value. Bitcoin: Answered by Jon Law & Alan John tackles all the concepts about Bitcoin through a simple, question-based format. The authors promise their readers that by the end of the book they will have understood the scope of Bitcoin, digital currencies, and blockchain. The readers would have a sentimental, technical, historical, and conceptual understanding of Bitcoin.

The book is simple and straightforward. The language is easy to follow. The question-answer format works because a complex topic is broken down into simpler units of understanding. The authors have made a commendable effort at reaching out to a wider audience. That being said, cryptocurrencies are inherently difficult to understand, especially for those who do not have a background in economics and finance. So, some concepts in the book might be too complex to comprehend for some readers.

This is not a casual read. The book has an academic tone and is meant to be educational. The authors have used a lot of tables, graphs, and diagrams to explain the concepts of the book. They also suggest the readers use the content of the book to further pursue in-depth research about cryptocurrencies. The authors have provided lots of references for such research at the end of the book.

I have no complaints about the book. I cannot say I now have a holistic understanding of Bitcoin, but I have a basic understanding of cryptocurrencies. This is a short read but I wouldn’t advise reading it in one go. Those readers who are interested in cryptocurrencies should use this book as reference material for their study.

I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. The book is professionally edited. I did not find any grammatical errors. The style of narration is academic and informative. The content is highly relevant in today’s time. I recommend the book to readers who are interested in cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin in particular. As I pointed out earlier, the book is not for casual reading. Though it is not necessary, it would be better if readers had some knowledge about financial systems, programming, and mathematical algorithms. Unless readers have some understanding of online financial transactions, they wouldn’t comprehend most of the concepts of the book and might not enjoy reading it.
