The best way to embrace yourself is to always remind yourself that you are human and, as such, you can't be perfect. I'm not saying you should now use this as an excuse to do unimaginable things. Healing Me by Anne Kad is a memoir that embodies healing, forgiveness, love, and acceptance. I would urge you to get yourself something to wipe your tears with because you are going to cry after you are done reading.

Anne always felt she was dirty, and this made it very hard for her to reconcile with herself. It all began when she was still young. Her elder brother abused her sexually, and when her sister told their mum, they both called her sister a liar. She was born into a Baptist church family. Another experience she wouldn't forget was when she was also abused at a party. She went on to suffer many sexual abuse cases and also have a lot of sexual encounters with men. Gar, one of her boyfriends, got her pregnant at a very young age, and this made them get married. Gar was someone who would do anything to get what he wanted. Living with Gar was a miserable experience for her as she found it hard to cope with his lifestyle. After several failed attempts, she later got away from him with her son. This was just the beginning of a life God had promised her if only she would believe in him.

I must confess, this is one very good book that will keep you engaged all day. There was never a dull moment in this book. A lot of people are like Anne, who feel they don't deserve anything good. I always thought very low of myself, but after reading this, all I now have to do is sit down and allow God to direct my path. Though the book was written by a Christian, I don't think people from different religions will find it hard to relate to the author's story. Just like Anne, I once did drugs to get away from myself, but I realized I was causing more harm than good, so I had to quit.

The book had a lot of errors, and this affected my reading. Aside from that, this book had an interesting storyline. I was very angry at how bad she was at making decisions, but then it occurred to me that she was very young when all this happened. I also found her friend, Jay, so adorable. He would always look out for her, making sure she was safe. I'm at the lowest point in my life and reading this book helped boost my morale towards life. How she went from being a slut to a missionary for God shows how accommodating God can be. All of this could have been avoided if her parents had taught her about sexual education. I must commend Bill and his wife, Kerri, for showing what Christianity should be like.

This book had numerous errors. I would rate it 3 out of 4 stars because of the errors. This shows that it lacked professional editing. I would recommend this book to all women and those who love reading memoirs.

Abuse breeds trauma and it is honestly so sad. I love that the author shares her honest story of trauma and healing. I believe many can, through her story find the strength to pull through. Thank you for your review.
