The Boy With The Scar by Vito M. Pirri is a short autobiography about the dramatic life of Vito. Scarred by accident at the tender age of two years and failing helplessly at school, Vito refuses to be held down by his disabilities and builds a rocky but successful life.

After the horrible incident that scarred him at a tender age, Vito had cancer for sixteen years and barely escaped from its eager hands. The school held no joy for him as he suffered bullying and struggled to keep up in his classes. At seventeen, he dropped out and joined the family business, learning to broaden his skills under his father’s friend. The author opened his store and expanded to five stores, diversifying into different niches. Later, he married Sue and birthed three kids — Frank, Sabrina, and Michael. However, challenges ruined his business and destroyed his marriage as the year went by. Left with no other choice, he picks up the pieces to re-build again. Does fate hold a second chance for him? Read to find out more.

Vito M. Pirri employs a straightforward writing technique. In the book, he flits through his early years and concentrates the better part of the book on his businesses, challenges, and family. The author also utilized images to depict essential scenes from his business years. Vito’s experiences are exciting, enlightening, and engaging, and this book is full of many business stratagems and lessons for entrepreneurs to learn.

I admire the author’s intelligence in using one stone to kill two birds: by creating an autobiography and giving relevance to his business with enlightening and helpful strategies for readers. My favorite part of the book was when the author started his landscaping and turf business. Despite his challenges, I was very intrigued by his never-give-up attitude, hard work, and willingness to take up jobs. At the end of the book, his business guidelines were another wisdom gem I cannot take for granted. I commend the author for giving such nuggets forged by years of experience.

The only problem with the book is that it’s quite fast-paced, and a lot is summarized. I feel there was a need for a longer and more detailed version of a book with so much information. However, that didn’t pose any trouble to my reading experience, and I vastly enjoyed this book. The book was also devoid of errors and exceptionally edited. For this reason, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to entrepreneurs and business owners.
