Review of The Cadence of Excellence
Mathew McDarby is a sales leader and coach. In The Cadence of Excellence, McDarby provides real-life examples and personal experiences in sales that make a winning team. A sales manager should lead by example so that the salespeople can model the same behavior. He emphasizes building a coaching culture and creating a consistent rhythm with those coached. To create a winning team, a sales manager should have a list of characteristics of quality sales hires. The author then provides the qualities he looks for when identifying strong salespeople. This book is thought-provoking and will have sales managers making changes for the better once they finish reading the book.
I loved the sales leadership planner that the author provided in the book. The planner can be used by sales managers to jot down important practices, which they can begin, improve on, and practices that need to stop. This way, they can strategize on the essential things to focus on. I loved how the author is straightforward and does not linger on repeating the same things over. The author has carried out various researches to provide more details on sales coaching.
There is absolutely nothing I disliked about the book. The Cadence of Excellence is a short and informative book that is full of helpful practices that can be implemented by a sales manager to become excellent and build a winning sales team. The author gives information precisely. One piece of advice I liked was when the author stated that a sales manager should not assume that all salespeople are internally motivated and willing to work hard enough to achieve excellence. He notes that some members of the sales team need external motivation, for example, a reward or a consequence, to help with their motivation.
I rate the book a 4 out of 4 stars. I believe the book has been exceptionally edited. I did not encounter any grammatical errors. The author has separated the book into various chapters, making it easier for readers to identify the topics covered under each. The book has a nice flow, and the author executes each chapter well with credible knowledge and sufficient points to pass the intended information.
I recommend this book to sales managers whose aim is to build their teamwork. This book is the perfect guide. It provides techniques and skills to be implemented by sales managers and sales teams to achieve remarkable results in their performance.
