Review of Bitcoin Answered
Although I had notions of what Bitcoin is and what cryptocurrencies are, my expectation when picking this book was to learn more and clarify some doubts. It did not disappoint me. In Bitcoin Answered, Jon Law provides a comprehensive guide about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. Themes like digital currencies, tokens, mining, blockchain, the scope of Bitcoin, and the computer networks that support it are explored.
The book is organized in a question-based format similar to slides. Topics are effectively addressed starting with a question and then expanded to related subjects simply and clearly. The writing style is direct and concise. This makes this book accessible to a wide audience that does not require prior knowledge in this area. Specialized financial or technical terms are satisfactorily explained or included in the glossary. In particular, I learned concepts of how Bitcoin works such as halving, hash, and forks, among others. Plus, I found the comparison with other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum interesting.
What I liked the most about this work is its approach. It aims to clarify doubts and provide readers with general and solid ideas of what the growing world of cryptocurrencies implies. The author cleverly manages to compile a book that helps to understand the essential concepts associated with Bitcoin. Consequently, he achieves the goal of unraveling the confusing web of information around Bitcoin received by the general public.
There was nothing I disliked about this work. Nonetheless, I would have liked a little more advice or recommendations associated with whether or not to invest in Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies. But I understand it is not the objective of the book. However, it offers valuable information in this regard since it presents data that can serve as a guide. For example, charts that display the historical behavior of the value of Bitcoin are included. In these, one can see the aforementioned behavior has been cyclical. Therefore, the cycle is likely to continue repeating itself. The author demonstrates a strong expertise in this field and presents graphs, concepts, and statistics to help clarify ideas. Likewise, the book contains numerous references, bibliographical notes, and links that support what is exposed. In this way, readers can consult further information and reinforce what they have learned.
After reading Bitcoin Answered, I cleared many doubts. Hence, I obtained a better comprehension of what Bitcoin is, how it works, and what it represents in the financial world. The editing was remarkable as I only noticed one typo. Taking into account all the comments, I think this book deserves the maximum rating of four out of four stars.
I recommend this useful and practical guide to people interested in learning about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as a whole. In addition, it would be appealing to those who already have pieces of knowledge and want to reinforce them.
