In Living Forward After Loss, Kathleen Ho writes about her pain after her husband's demise and how she recovered from the pain. Although the loss took a great toll on her up to the point where she contemplated committing suicide and other dangerous means of escape from reality, she was able to overcome the pain and depression. As someone who has experienced the pain and grief of losing her loved one, she wrote this book intending to help those who are passing through a similar situation.

I appreciate the author for mustering up the courage to write this book. A lot of people see suicide as the only escape from the anguish of losing their loved ones while some turn to the use of alcohol and the misuse of drugs. The author condemns these acts in the book and emphasizes how these acts cause depression and make people passing through these situations more miserable rather than helping their pain. She encourages the reader to view every terrible occurrence from a positive angle since life is too precious to waste wallowing in the chasm of sorrow and depression. She also advises the reader to hold unto memories instead of pain then, those memories become treasures.

I enjoyed every aspect of this book. I'm sure the author must have done a lot of research while writing this book, she gave the meaning of the medical terms mentioned in the book and also backed up her points with scientific evidence and quotes from professionals in different spheres of life. Also, at the end of each chapter are short summaries and key points to be noted by the reader. These help in making the book more relatable.

I can boldly say this book deserves a full rating. Though I did find a few minor errors in the book, this did not interfere with the message passed in the book. The book was well written and simple to understand. For these reasons, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.

The author mentioned how to support those in grief, different ways to heal emotional pain, and things to avoid while in grief. I recommend this book to those going through the pain of losing their loved ones or a similar situation. This book can provide comfort and encourage readers to live for the present instead of dwelling on the pain of the past.

This is beautiful. I feel like depression is really underestimated and thus considered an afterthought in this day and age. It would be a very helpful read to certain people. Thanks for the review.

Coping with loss is probably the most difficult thing one can go through. The book is thus invaluable.

The courage is indeed commendable. I don't know how I would have managed to write about such sensitive and rather personal information.

This sounds like such an important, helpful book. I hope I'm never in a situation to have to read it, though.

I believe books like this are very much needed in the society today. However, I wouldn't like to read this as the topic of grief is a turn off for me. Great review.

This is a fantastic review. The death of a close friend or family member can be extremely upsetting. Overcoming grief is a difficult task. I'm grateful that this book was able to address this issue. This book has a good chance of making a significant difference.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.

I think writing a book like this is actually like opening a healing wound for Kathleen. I hope this book gets through to the people who just lose their loved one.
