As the years go by, making a breakthrough as a salesperson requires improved skills. Therefore, many find it difficult to achieve success in the marketing field. Marketing Interrupted by Dave Sutton provides the breakdown of effective marketing strategies.

This book of 201 pages is divided into 3 major sections, which include Story, Strategy, and Systems. Part one analyses how to properly orchestrate a brand's story to make it appealing to potential customers. It highlights the effect of bad storytelling and points out the flaws in non-effective brand stories. It also explains how to build a non-profit brand story and how to attract talents and make a success of sales in emerging markets. Other parts provide a detailed analysis of effective strategies in marketing and the systems of reaching the target audience and taking the brand to the top.

This book is quite educative and simple to understand. It can propel one from an amateur salesperson to a knowledgeable and professional marketer. The author provides logical proofs with the aid of examples and real-life scenarios. This made the book easy to understand.

My favorite aspect of this book is the numerous charts that graphically illustrate vital facts in the narrative. The charts were helpful in making the main points clear. Graphs and pictures were also included in the book. While I wouldn't say this book is exhaustive, it indeed covers a wide array of issues faced by marketers and provides simple solutions to the problems.

Also, beautiful and intellectual quotations can be found in this book. They are often noteworthy and tie in perfectly with the theme of each chapter. I have no dislikes about this book. The author was thorough and knowledgeable.

My favorite aspect of this book is the frequent referrals to well-known businesses and corporations. The book highlights how the corporations made their way to the top and also pointed out their flaws. An example can be found on page 138, where the narrative said, "Timothy’s Coffees of the World did what many brands have done to increase sales—they setup an automated marketing campaign that offered a free sample to customers for following them on social...Unfortunately, Timothy's offered more than they could deliver."

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was exceptionally well edited. It delves deep into the core of marketing. It is capable of honing one's marketing skills. Salespeople who desire to improve their performance will find this book very much informative and beneficial.
