It makes life interesting to live on purpose and follow one's passions to the end, as God purposed for us to live. Speedy Hurled Through Havoc has 255 pages and 10 chapters. Within the 10 chapters are other sub-chapters that narrate the memories of a mural artist and his adventure with the brush. David "Letterfly" Knoderer takes the readers on an adventure from his childhood to adulthood to describe the lessons each experience from childhood through circus to a mural artist and a horse trainer played in his life.
The author describes his interest as a young boy in horses and the circus due to a circus train that periodically passed in his village and brought marvels. Due to his father's absence as a child, he decided to find a way to enjoy life away from home. There was no happiness at home as the elder brother (John) was hard to interact with, and the mother was not always around. Starting as a handyman in a circus train crew, he learned the circus skill from basic performance, trained horses, and eventually started his circus train. A life spent in the painting made him go out into the world away from home, where he received less love and recognition.
Love for adventure and writing created enthusiasm for the author to travel worldwide, painting murals and trailers. Painting transformed the author's life as he lived to meet great men, like Frank Macdonald, who helped him purchase a truck to carry out business. There were prosperous people in business, mechanics, and horse trainers who taught the author the essential virtues of life. In his quest for adventure, the author had a wonderful horse named Betty, who taught him the art of love and expression. From a dream of getting away from home, joining the circus, and painting all around the world, the author learned a lot about people and lived to express his creativity, which many people admired. At some time, the author received recommendations from clients he served long ago and cherished his work as one of his classes.
The book shares the adventure of a painter in straightforward and understandable language. The author connects his life and his father's life through love for experience and being away from family, searching for purpose. As the father lived serving the church and mediating for other troubled churches, the author created beauty by painting murals and entertaining people. The book gives an account of a determined painter who decided to follow his passion regardless of the odds. The author illustrates the advantage of being a good communicator, developing good relationships with people, and learning from other people's life experiences.
The book was published correctly, and I found no negative aspects. Therefore, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. The book was easy and enjoyable to read as I learned of David's family and his quest for freedom through investing in painting as a passion. I also learned the relationship between art and good communication skills. I recommend the book to young people who consider painting a passion, but also teenagers and adults who love to pursue their goals in life would enjoy reading this book.
