Smart Love by Vincent Fudge II is a self-help book that was written as a therapeutic approach to solving personal and relationship problems through writing and reflecting on past behavior and feelings. As the author's insurance couldn't cover his sessions with his therapist, he decided to start writing about his feelings and notions and everything he went through with his wife as a guide for him and other people who are going through the same problems. He wrote about what was going wrong in his relationship with his wife and how they worked together to make things better through the SMART method.

What I liked about the book was how the author managed to disclose all the issues he had with his wife and not shy away from the most depressing and embarrassing moments and events. I also admired how, even though their relationship was extremely toxic and violent at times, they didn't give up on each other and they fought for the life they promised to have together and for their children. I also found it a nice touch that every time the author was about to tell a real-life story, he started by saying "once upon a time." I felt like he was ensuring that whatever happened was in the past and they had left it behind and moved on to a happily ever after life.

There wasn't much that I didn't like about the book. It was very educational, and I think it would help people who are going through the same thing as him in their relationship with their wives. As it provides a lot of exercises and methods on how to get through and never fall back into those disastrous situations, and cope and work on personal stress, as long as both parties commit to improving their relationship. I did find some parts to be a little repetitious, but it didn't affect the flow of the book that much.

I would rate this book a 4 out of 4. It was exceptionally well-edited since I haven't found any typos or grammatical errors in it. It was also well thought out and very detailed. I think it will help a lot of people in their marriage and relationships if they follow the exercises thoroughly.

I would recommend this book to anyone going through struggles and sorrow in their relationships; anyone who is contemplating giving up on their partner but wants to try to make things better for the future. I should mention that there is borderline profanity, but only a couple of times.
