Review of Smart Love
Smart Love is a quasi-fictional educational narrative by Vincent Fudge II. The outline of this book revolves around the various diverse complexities of married life. Edward is married to Ebony and they have two kids; Elizabeth and Elijah. Edward is thrown in prison for harassing his wife over a heated argument. He is enlightened in prison on how to overcome this sensitive problem. The SMART method came to his rescue!
Edward and Ebony are two different characters, who are trying to reconcile and try to live together for the sake of their children. The chapters in this book are separated by the months of the year. Each month has enough trouble of its own. Shared visions in a relationship are very important to have a balanced and healthy married relationship between a couple. The author focuses on the SMART system, which brings consistency to the relationship tree.
Mutually shared commitments are the main idea behind a successful relationship. The perspectives of the spouse matter a lot in a relationship. One needs to find out both sides and then discuss the solution that will best fit both perspectives. Even though I am not married, I would surely take this lesson with me all my life, as it was very useful to me.
Acceptance is one of the key factors for a happy married life. The author conveyed this point through many practical life stories of Ebony and Edward. The back stories were written in italics which gave a personal feeling to the reader. I would like to mention a quote from the book, “I partnered that frame of reference with considering how maintaining a healthy relationship and maintaining a relationship are not synonymous.”
I learnt many things from Smart love. I liked how the court kept extending the date indirectly helping the couple repair their broken pieces. The complexities were thought-provoking and made me see marriage from a whole new perspective. Though there was some profanity used in this book, it did not hinder me from enjoying the book. I am forced to mention another quote from the book as it was too good, “Growth can be uncomfortable, change can hurt, and death can be painful, but love-the happy emotion that brings us joy and is one of God’s blessings-does not hurt.” Vincent Fudge II quotes some Bible verses in the book to prove his point.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. There is no reason to reduce a star as it involved practical prospects to live a happy life. Each married citizen ought to know all these concepts. I came across only two minor errors in this book, which gives me the liberty to say that this book is professionally edited. There was nothing to dislike in this book.
Married couples must have this self-help book when they face some complicated problems and issues that need to be mended. Smart love will surely help them at some point or the other. Even single people who are about to get married ought to have this book to keep their marriage healthy and burning! Count how many times Ebony planned to separate from Edward!
