Many have found life to be full of pains and devoid of love from their early years. The scars left on their young, impressionable hearts often interfere with future achievements. Resilient Heart by Ruby C. Wight is an emotional story about the author's life.

Ruby is not a stranger to pain. She had experienced abuse, bullying, molestation, and public ridicule at a young age. She had also endured mistreatment from her mother. At a point, she became suicidal. While in her first year of law school, she was proposed to by her pen pal from California. She decided to accept the proposal. She moved from the Philippines and got married in California away from her family. So began a new phase of life that presented enormous challenges and affected her in unexpected ways.

I got totally immersed in the story from the opening page. The narrative moved fast and did not drag at any point. The descriptions of the mistreatments she faced while growing up were touching.

The narrative was quite descriptive. It clearly portrayed the circumstances in which Ruby found herself, leaving nothing to one's imagination. This feature made the book engaging. I love the smooth flow of the narrative. It was natural and easy to understand.

There is much to learn from this autobiography. Despite experiencing serious problems back to back, Ruby turned out to be responsible and industrious. She rose to defend herself and did not lose her balance. People who are going through tough times or difficult marriages can learn helpful tips from Ruby's experiences.

My favorite feature of this book is the fact that despite the unpleasant treatment she consistently faced, Ruby did not lose her drive. She often went on vacation with her children and created avenues for relaxation and fun. Others who are in similar situations can learn how to avoid being consumed by sadness.

I also love the fact that the author shared both her successes and failures. When she lost a court case, she included the details in the narrative. This can help others in similar situations to avoid the pitfalls highlighted.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was exceptionally well edited. The text was easy to read and understand. I have no dislikes about it. The detailed information about the author's life made for an engaging read. It was also interesting to read about the author's successes in executing travels and pilgrimages. Readers who desire to learn about how to cope with trials in life will find this book educative.

This book is relatable in so many ways. I love the review.
The book gives inspiration even if unintentionally so as Ruby navigates the trials and tribulations of life. I love how Ruby loves herself and her children.

Life isn’t a moment, it’s a journey lived consciously.

We should be mindful of the things we do to people so as not to cause them pain that would affect them in the future. Thanks to the author for documenting her experience.
