Review of Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Trad. Chinese Edition)
[Following is a volunteer review of "Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Trad. Chinese Edition)" by Peter Liptak.]
Mastering idiomatic expressions take a while. However, there is no doubt that it is always worth it. I say this because it can help you seem more knowledgeable in your conversations with people. Peter Liptak recognized this, so he wrote Idiom Attack Everyday Living Vol. 1 (Trad. Chinese Edition). He researched and collated 300+ idioms and put them in this book. These are not just random idioms. They are idioms that are very popular in North America. He also includes questions and answers that his readers can use to practice their newly learned idioms. Lastly, he translated the content of the book into traditional Chinese.
I applaud the effort that Peter Liptak put into this book. I do not doubt that this book will help a lot of traditional Chinese speakers learn some English idioms. One of the things I liked very much in Idiom Attack Everyday Living Vol. 1 (Trad. Chinese Edition) is the way the author arranged the book. He followed a three-step simple method. First, he wrote out these idioms in English. Secondly, he gave quizzes and questions to test his readers. Thirdly, he translated everything into traditional Chinese. This gave the book a simplistic look. This is what I liked the most in this book.
What I liked the least about Idiom Attack Everyday Living Vol. 1 (Trad. Chinese Edition) is the lack of enough pictures. Peter Liptak tried to help visual learners by providing some pictures that showed some of the idioms. However, I feel like the pictures provided were too few. It would have been great if there had been at least one picture on each or every two pages. I know that I would have liked that a lot.
Apart from the point above, I did not dislike any other thing in Idiom Attack Everyday Living Vol. 1 (Trad. Chinese Edition). Peter Liptak gave me a valuable book. Its content will help me master idioms the more I read it. He also edited it exceptionally well. Me finding no errors is a plus any day.
Because I liked over 95% of what I saw in Idiom Attack Everyday Living Vol. 1 (Trad. Chinese Edition), I will award it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. Idiom Attack Everyday Living Vol. 1 (Trad. Chinese Edition) is a perfect book for traditional Chinese speakers that want to learn hundreds of American idioms in a short time.
