This book, A Dream for Peace: An Ambassador's Memoir, by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, is an autobiography that is bound to stir numerous emotions in the hearts and minds of readers who choose to dive deep into its pages.

Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, the person this book is about, was more than just a scientist or just an Ivorian ambassador. This book showcases this fact and wraps up his journey of hardships, science, love, faith, patriotism, and diplomacy right from his birth in Algeria, a North African country, back in 1938, to the day he decided to retire and settle in the United States. The seventeen chapters of this book, with beautiful fonts and numerous pictures, through which Dr. Berrah has given these pages a personal touch, are bound to impress people with their simplicity and grace, just like Dr. Ghoulem Berrah himself.

The very first thing that I liked about this book was the author's humble personality, which was visible right from the book's dedication page. As I progressed through the pages, his vouch for peace and unity and the love he had for his wife touched my heart. The structure and the writing style of this book are so beautiful that by the time I reached the last pages, I was left feeling like Dr. G. Berrah is an acquaintance of mine with whom I have an irreplaceable bond.

There is nothing that I disliked about this book. It has been an emotional rollercoaster ride for me, which I enjoyed going through while educating myself with many new perspectives and things about the history of Africa that I did not know. I find Dr. Berrah as an example of the fact that the initial career path we choose for ourselves does not define our whole life.

I could only find two editorial errors in this book, and none of them hampered my reading experience. So, I can say that this book has been nicely edited by a professional. Also, it has no use of profanity. Based on all the things that I felt about this book, which I have mentioned above, I give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to readers who have an affinity for topics of politics and history or a curiosity to know about the incredible person that Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was. If you choose to read this book, you should note that it contains topics involving wars, which some people might feel uncomfortable reading.
