Review of The Drug-Free Sleep Solution: The Four-Week Program for Overcoming Insomnia Using Cognitive Behavioral Therap
According to the National Sleep Foundation, an average adult requires between seven and nine hours of sleep per night for individuals to perform at optimum levels. However, studies have found that several scores of people, specifically adults, suffer from a range of sleep. Extensive research into the causes of sleep disorders has yielded progressive breakthroughs, and many treatment options are now available. The most convenient and easily accessible treatments are over-the-counter tablets and various other drugs. While drugs may offer relief, they also pose a hazardous health risk. David Durocher advocates for a drug-free solution to insomnia disorders and has compiled The Drug-Free Sleep Solution: The Four-Week Program for Overcoming Insomnia Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is a widely used first-line treatment option. This treatment option focuses on the emotions, thoughts, and behavior that cause or contribute to insomnia. Durocher advocates for the use of this treatment therapy as it has helped him. In the book, Durocher discusses facts about sleep disorders, explains how CBT-I is used when treating sleep disorders, and shares the four-week program he has developed to overcome sleep disorders.
The book is compact, with only 54 pages in total. This small page count might dupe a potential reader into thinking it will be a quick read. That is not the case, as Durocher elaborates on topics related to insomnia in great detail. The book cover is brightly colored and appealed to me almost immediately, and the content is structured in a logical format.
There are many aspects of this book that I liked. Durocher’s first-hand experience with a sleep disorder makes the book even more engaging. The book is comprehensive, easy to understand, and provides additional resources for readers to consult. The book is interactive and practical, providing step-by-step guidance to treat sleep disorders without using drugs.
I did not come across errors and believe this book was professionally edited. My overall rating is a glowing 4 out of 4 stars. The book is relatable, resourceful, factual, and educational. I have no negative feedback to report on this book.
If you are looking for a long-term, effective solution for sleep disorders without using drugs, then this book is for you. Studies show that many adults battle sleep disorders at various points in their lives. This book is, therefore, ideal for a wide audience. I highly recommend the book to readers who suffer from insomnia.
