Review of Stick to Your Dreams
Stick To Your Dreams by Bill Allardyce and Steve Gray is a motivational and doing-it-yourself book that inspires the readers to grab the bull by the horn and take responsibility for whatever their lives turn out to be. Divided into twelve chapters, the book explains practical ways, with illustrations of how an individual can achieve all they have set their minds to achieve.
There are a few positive aspects of the book. Firstly, the authors employed a simple style in the presentation of the information contained in the book and explained clearly that a reader would have no difficulty in understanding and putting them to practice. Secondly, there is a great use of life scenarios and examples in the book. By this, a reader does not doubt that if they rightly apply the methods in the book, all things being equal, they will experience the same results those persons in the life scenarios experienced or even more. Thirdly, the authors took out time to give some guides on what readers should do in implementing certain things. For example, when they had discussed creating a To-Do list, they had even given a guide on how the To-Do list should be structured.
There are also some negative aspects of the book. First, the general format of the book is poor. The font that was used in the book is not appropriate. That font type made the work look like it was written with a typewriter. Also, the substance of the book is contained in just eighty pages of the book, and there are about seven hundred pages filled with nothing precisely. This, in a way, substantially reduces the chances of a reader picking the book to read unless it is highly recommended by someone that such a reader respects. Another negative aspect of the book is the repetition of ideas and points previously discussed in subsequent chapters. For example, the teachings on dream crushers can be found in several chapters of the book. Lastly, the authors also clumped different ideas together in a chapter without showing a link between these different concepts being discussed. For example, in the first chapter, the authors discussed setting priorities and also personality traits. They did little or nothing to show the relationship between these topics to warrant them being discussed together in a single chapter.
There were some errors found in the book. However, I would say that the book was professionally edited. I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars. The reason for this rating is because of the negative aspects of the book, which I have already highlighted.
I recommend this book to all persons who wish to achieve all they can dream about but do not know how to go about it.
