28 Disastrous Dates A (Mostly True) Memoir by Poppy Mortimer is a humorous book about the author's extraordinary yet adventurous dating experience. She moves from England to Australia to find the right person for herself. In this book, she states some guidelines as to not follow on the first dates but still ends up on the most disastrous date again. Each date is unique and interesting which very well fits with the title of the book. She's optimistic, attractive, and have a good sense of humour.

Being traumatized by the first few dates Poppy moved to Australia to find her prince charming. But to her surprise Australians take too long to ask for a date. Having been experienced faint hearted man to egoistic, she has chosen her interest in confident man. The trigger warnings created immense humour on having met the most perverted men always in heat. Poppy's rise in her consultancy career to owning her land is itself inspiring. Her love for food and adventure drives her and keeps her firm on finding the best man for her. Her meditation tactics came in handy many a times where anyone could snap. So will she find her prince charming? To know the answer, get the book right away.

The book is intriguing enough as it kept me eager on what would happen next. To the best kick off to the date to the most disastrous ending is thrilling. From the house date to the horseback riding date, my stomach went in knots. How she tolerated the mad man to the crying baby is hilarious. Having promised not going for an online dating site to having asked out on a drive way is humourous. How her favourite dance classes lead to get her on the most dreadful dates is funny.

On moving ahead, this book gives us a few principles to abide in order to enjoy our love life to the fullest. Feminism is shown outright without criticising any group. Momentum of Poppy that kept her going on is captivating. In the end, she established her own business and got herself a house which demonstrates her liberal character. She is open minded person with the soul of an explorer which leaves a positive impact on the audience. I found it endearing how she sticked to her values and remained composed in the most outrageous situations. What I found most amusing is how she felt butterflies in her stomach before dates even all of them ended in a tragic way. Even I got goosebumps whenever she got ready for a date.

In conclusion, I loved each and every aspect of the book. There was not a time where I felt boredom. The book kept me intrigued till the last. The language is figurative, contextual and gives us a clear idea of what the writer is trying to tell us. Also the writing speech is crisp and well-turned, and as it's well edited and cleaned, I did not find any errors. The book contains mature content so the book can be counted in young adult or new adult section as it's best suited for 16+ age. This story is comical and witty and tells us not to lose hope while not compromising with oneself and finding the perfect man. Therefore, I am joyous to rate 28 Disastrous Dates A (Mostly True) Memoir a well-deserved four out of four stars.

I strongly recommend this book to young adult and older generation men and women who love comedy, romantic and non-fiction genre as I'm sure you all are gonna laugh out loud without an ounce of boredom and may even able to relate your own dating experiences with this in a hilarious way.
