Review of Workaholics Adrift

Judy Martin McCandless, a woman in her forties, believed in the dignity of success. She was of the opinion that a huge bank account, houses, and investments are a representation of a happy life. To achieve that life, she and her husband, John McCandless, worked hard and avoided distractions to be very successful. However, the early death of John's colleague made them have to rethink life and their purpose. Hence, they took a life detour and plunged into a world of the unknown. This decision brought an experience that changed their lives for years to come.
In Workaholics Adrift: Transformation in the Pacific Islands, Judy Martin McCandless tells a personal story of the 20th century which comprises their voyage. It is a travel memoir that contains their travel history of crossing the Pacific. With her six-year sea experience, she discovered her true sense of humanity and the description of the paradise she had always longed for since her adulthood.
There are essential highlights in the book. I love that the book is a good adventure story. The events and sea voyages are well arranged in chronological order with important throwbacks to facilitate a better understanding. It contained pictures that made the book interesting and side notes that helped define certain topics in the book. Judy explicitly explained what sea life looked like in the 80s. She did a great job at describing the different cultures that are most times unknown to the world. The book promoted human unity in diversity. It also taught the need for cooperation, tolerance, and kindness to obtain a better result. Even though it's an exploration book, it can also serve as a self-help book as it contains ways to come out of substance abuse, how to manage marital issues, and useful tips from the AA (Alcoholic Anonymous) community. I also learnt about the workings of different boats and their uses.
In view of all these, I did not find any negative parts to this book. It taught life morals while giving an interesting exploration. It was fascinating and educating. Also, it was exceptionally well edited.
I rate Workaholics Adrift: Transformation in the Pacific Islands four out of four stars due to the fact that the storyline was brilliantly executed and the book contained essential criteria for a happy, healthy, and successful life.
I recommend this book to all lovers of sea adventure stories. Recovering addicts, parents, and troubled individuals will find this book helpful. Anyone seeking ways to live a meaningful life and spread kindness to the world should definitely read this book.
