SPIRITUALITY Modern Disciples of Jesus Christ is a book by Bettina E Obernuefemann that recounts the inspiration she received. These words were given to the author so Christians could see their importance in life and how they could easily influence their immediate environment. It discusses several aspects of life that everyone, not just believers, should consider. In the course of writing this book, the author had open heart surgery. So there was a break of at least two years. It has 22 sections that carry the message the author received divinely (I do not doubt this). The primary purpose of this book is to make Modern Disciples (MD) of Jesus Christ through the nuggets shared in it.

There are several things I like about this book. The first thing is the conversational style the author employed. It makes you relax and enjoy the message. The discussions went deeply into life's philosophy and revealed aspects I had previously given little attention to. Additionally, it served as a reminder of the things I had forgotten. And I think everybody who reads this book will be inspired to dig deeper within themselves and appreciate its principles. The book can also be read in any order that suits you and can be used as a guide for meditation.

Some sections stay with me. In section eleven, 'Growth of Inner Wisdom.' I learnt that man could stray, but there is a time of reconciliation with the divine path he was created to tread. This moment is what the author referred to as a time of 'awakening'. This section also gave me two quotes, one of which I will leave you with: 'You are worthy, healable, and lovable. It is a law of God... not man' (Page 42). This tells me that anyone can be a Modern Disciple because it is our purpose in life. However, it starts by loving your 'Real Self'. So what is your 'Real Self'? It is defined in this book. Just get a copy and find out.

This book is the embodiment of wisdom. It talked about varying themes, ranging from love, wisdom, faith, hope, and many more. Simple and relatable English words are used. I liked that the book highlighted that the author is doubtful about releasing the book because she is scared that people might not listen to the message. This, to me, brings out the reality of the experience. I enjoyed my moments with the book. The delivery is friendly and not preachy, as many might presume by simply reading the title.

There is nothing to dislike about this book. For the reasons I mentioned above and the fact that it is professionally edited, I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. I found just three errors in the book while I read it.

I will recommend this book to Christians who need a guide for meditation. I also recommend this book to people who have an open mind to religion and spirituality. The book’s tone is not coarse or judgemental. It is all mild and gentle, like a breeze and a dove.

This seems like quite the guide for Christians everywhere. Having such a deep topic in a relaxed tone is also quite the accomplishment.

I love the way you describe the book. It definitely makes it seem like something I would be interested in reading. It is interesting that meditation is making its way into mainstream Christianity. Personally, I have no problem with that and think it is a good thing. Great review!

I am not much into religious books, so I'll pass this one. I am quite happy that the author was able to hear divine messages and wishes to share with people. Great review.
