Review of A Dream For Peace
A Dream for Peace, by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, is a memoir of 644 pages and 17 chapters. This book is about the author's life, presenting readers with the opportunity to learn various morals from the author's challenges and qualities. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a scientist, doctor, advisor to president Félix Houphout-Boigny, an activist, and a Muslim, married to a Christian who believes in and supports political dialogue. Reading Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's book, I was able to see how much of a philanthropist he was, his involvement in political issues, his desire to help countries and people in need, and so on. The author starts the book with his childhood memories.
Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's book, A Dream for Peace, delves into a variety of topics such as military conflict, racism, single parenthood, death, leadership, determination, and many others. The protagonist, Ghoulem Berrah, was born in Aïn Beïda in northeastern Algeria under the French colonial system. After the death of Ghoulem Berrah's father, Hamadi Berrah, his mother denies herself the opportunity to remarry because of the negative effect it could have on Berrah. She loved and supported him in every decision he made until her death. The first few chapters demonstrate how oppressive and complicated it was for the protagonist to live in his native country as a stranger because of French colonialism. At a young age, Berrah witnessed the suffering, death, and injustices inflicted on his people; he felt the desire to rescue them from the bondage of the colonists.
After reading this book, I discovered many admirable traits. Character development is something I like and appreciate in the book. The protagonist is well-educated and disciplined. His qualities are inspiring, and I admire them. I was astonished by the way the author coordinated the book's content. I was perplexed by the details of his university days and how he traveled to various countries, helping people and avoiding wars through dialogue. His eagerness to learn about his wife's religious beliefs was commendable.
After reading A Dream for Peace, by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, I could not pinpoint any typographical errors or any forms of vulgar language; there was nothing I disliked about the book.
Given the advantages I mentioned above and the lack of negative aspects, I am strongly influenced by the author's creativity and skill to rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
I recommend this book to political activists, liberation fighters, and those who find an interest in African history and are interested in diplomatic engagement to use this book as a guide to achieving their political goals.
