Review of Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Trad. Chinese Edition)
Many people do not know what an idiom is. That does not mean they do not use it. That is because idioms have become part and parcel of the American vocabulary. ESL learners will probably be confused by the idioms we use here in the US. That is why books like this one are essential. This book contains over 300 North American idioms that traditional Chinese speakers can use. Each of these idioms and their examples is written in English first. Everything is subsequently translated into Chinese. Furthermore, Peter Liptak provides important exercises that enable ESL learners to practice their newly learned idioms.
It will surprise you to know that Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Trad. Chinese Edition) has over five versions. Each of these versions has been translated into a different language. For example, there is one for French-speaking people and another for Germans and Koreans. This should tell you that Peter Liptak's goal is to educate as many people as possible on the importance of idioms.
I'll go on a limb and say that this book has my heart, mind, and approval. It looks simple, yet it is one of the most valuable books I have seen. Every idiom it provides can be used anywhere, be it in a casual conversation with friends or at a business meeting. This book is a fantastic conversation guide. This is one of the things I like so much about this book.
Another thing that I noticed was its simplicity. I discovered that Peter Liptak opted to teach simple idioms that he could find. His explanations of them were even more uncomplicated. All things being equal, this is my favorite thing about this book. I'll be lying if I say it's not what I like the most.
Another thing that is worthy of mention is the clean look it has. I am talking about the way the author edited it. Just like a cleanly-shaved man has no stubble on his face, Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Trad. Chinese Edition) had no errors at all. You can say that Peter Liptak edited it excellently. Furthermore, I will say that I couldn't dislike anything in it. This is not my fault; it is Peter Liptak's. Moreover, the way he wrote made it impossible to dislike anything. Because I liked every single thing I saw and read, Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Trad. Chinese Edition) deserves a rating of four out of four stars.
People that speak traditional Chinese and are currently learning English as a second language need all the help they can get. This book offers such support in bettering one's English vocabulary. Thus, I recommend it to people and the category above. They are the primary target audience for this book.
