Define the truth and overcome it anyway is a non-fiction book by Louis Davis. It encompassed seven different complications we encounter in our daily lives and went forward to define each one and also gave readers a different way of looking at them through examples of people who had gone through that path and some examples from the Holy Bible.
Fear was the first obstacle the author explicitly wrote about. It is one of the enormous reasons why people fail or succeed in whatever they set their minds to do. It is a powerful emotion that has a strong effect on people. It can degrade or give rise to you. Doubt was the second concept discussed. It is a feeling of skepticism and an absence of confidence in something. This emotion keeps us from fully reaching our potential because you'd simply have the acknowledgement that things would not change or get better. It would leave you second-guessing yourself. Trust was the third concept. It is simply the firm belief in the strength of someone or something. Most of the time, we find it hard to trust our abilities because we let our lack of experience bring uncertainty to our minds, and this will invariably lead to a state of stagnation. Others were sacrifice, distractions, procrastination, and time management. In this book, how these concepts affect our ability to fully realize our potential is examined in depth. I'll recommend this book to you if you'd love to have the knowledge to rise above your limitations or trends weighing you down.
I appreciated the examples the author gave about how to overcome fear because they challenged me. It made me realize that to achieve bigger things in life and to fight the status quo, we have to leave our comfort zone, and that equals developing courage. I got to know that fear of the unknown is the worst form of fear because it would stop you from daring to follow your dreams and aspirations and would make you only ponder the negative aspects of things. Reading this masterpiece, you'd realize time waits for no one, and that would motivate you to make use of your time wisely. I also learned that when we put our minds to carrying out a task, we should let nothing of any sort distract us. I appreciated the quotes from the author presented in some strategic parts of the book. It gave me the extra nudge I needed to aspire to greater heights. The lessons I learned from this book have helped change my mindset, and I won't forget them for a long time to come. The space where the author left for readers to fill in what they were battling with appealed to me. This allowed readers to immediately apply what they had just read.
The book was highly inspiring and motivating. However, I found something displeasing. There were numerous errors present, and this showed the poor editing it went through. Because of this, I'll be giving it a rating of three out of four stars.
I'll recommend this book to avid readers who love books that inspire and offer the courage to soar above their constraints. Numerous characters and examples were drawn from the Bible to support the instances given by the author, so if you don't believe in the Bible, you might want to skip this one.
