A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is an interesting non-fiction memoir that talks about the life journey, experiences, challenges and achievements of the author, Dr. Ghoulem Berrah. The author was a scientist, a diplomat, as well as an activist. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was born and raised in a Muslim home in Aïn Beïda, Algeria. His father and mother were both Muslims. However, he lost his father at a very young age. He begins his narration with his childhood and his experiences as a student. He also narrates his diplomatic work with his old friend, who was the president of Ivory Coast, President Houphouët-Boigny. They collaborated and accomplished great things. To learn more about these great achievements, read this book. This historical memoir also reveals the history of Algerians and how Dr. Ghoulem Berrah fought to gain their independence and their life afterward.

Unlike most of the historical memoirs I have encountered, A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is an amazingly interesting memoir filled with so many details, life experiences and emotions as well. I appreciate how the author was able to communicate his thoughts on several different issues in a candid and sincere manner. The author also had respect for other people’s religions. There were also a lot of features about Dr. Ghoulem Berrah that I admired so much. His advocacy for peace and unrelenting attitude to fighting for what is right is worthy of emulation. He would not give up until he achieved the desired result. I learned a lot of practical life lessons from this book. I also got so much inspiration by just reading about the life’s work of the author. This book also featured themes of freedom, peace, love and violence. Another quality I admire about this book is that it was professionally edited. I only noticed a few errors while reading it. I also love how the author used pictures in some of the pages of this book to elaborate on some of the events narrated.

This book was a wonderful read for me. However, I found it to be extremely long and some of the stories unnecessary. Aside from this, there was nothing else I disliked about this book.

A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is an exceptional memoir. I was satisfied after reading through the pages of this book. I also learned some important lessons. The author’s life is a great inspiration to me. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to history lovers. People interested in learning about the history of some African countries would also find this book helpful.

Dr. Berrah's life is examplary. He achieved so much for his country and also made a notable innovation in science. I must also state that I was awed by the number of great people he was opportuned to interact with. When they say that someone lived life to it's fullest, Dr. Berrah's life is a perfect example.
