The book a dream for peace is a well-written book about the life of Ghoulem Berrah. This memoir takes the reader through stories of how Ghoulem Berrah grew up, his school, University, and marriage life. It highlights his involvement in politics which started when he moved to France as a medical student. It narrates his mission, what he accomplished and some of his disappointment. His story shows you that the sky is the limit when you have a dream, as he was once a student, prisoner, medical doctor and scientist. This book further highlights his involvement in Politics from Africa, France, and America.

This book is well written and I rate it 4 out of 4 stars , even though the use of French words was a bit too much. For example, naming of departments or republics could have been in English. One positive aspect about this book is learning about how African countries used to help each other a lot during colonial times and welcomed each other. The book also teaches about the correlation between the history of Algeria and Tunisia. Also, it is beautiful to see the writer highlighting how his fellow peers in the struggle did not agree with him in certain aspects for example, when they proposed a strike of the students back in France as some students opposed it because they were worried about their education and some went against his wishes. It means he is a true leader that can admit when people can challenge him. It is amazing how he also narrates the story after all those years, he still, for example, remembers people's reactions as in Chapter five page 125, he highlights how one of the senators nodded while he was making a speech.

Unfortunately, the downside of this book it is unnecessarily long, some stories could have been shortened. The use of pictures is good, but it was not necessary to show his certificates and a whole publication of his scientific publication. The abstract page would have been enough, this is making the chapter unnecessary and long and has no significant value.

I recommend this book to people who love history and those that are interested to learn a little more about some of the French colonized African countries. Also, if you are someone who is thinking about starting something (political party, business, anything) then this book will show you that success comes with a lot of handwork and perseverance.
