Girls all around the world grow up listening to fairy tales where the handsome prince meets the pretty girl; the couple immediately fall in love and live happily ever after. We naively believe in princes who shall sweep us off our feet, until a day arrives when reality shatters that daydream. Only then do we begin to realize that not every beast we meet or frog we kiss shall transform into a prince. Kelly Rossi’s Dating the wrong men: The Misadventurer’s Guide through Bad Relationship Choices is one such book that can help us avoid the frogs in the search for our prince.

The book is a beautifully written memoir of the author’s life, from her childhood through her 20 plus years of dating the ‘wrong’ men. Throughout the book, she classifies the men she meets into various categories. Each chapter tells the story of a different type of ‘Wrong Man’ and highlights the traits that make this particular man ‘Wrong’ to help readers identify one in their lives. The author doesn’t claim to have a magic formula for identifying a 'Right Man'; the qualities of a 'Right Man' depend upon personal preference. You will either relate to Kelly’s experience with your own or use this book as a guide for what ‘what not to do in a relationship’ in the future.

Facts I liked about the book are –

• The emphasis placed on self discovery and knowing exactly what you want in a partner.
• It proves, with examples, that maybe it isn't you who is responsible for your failed relationship.
• There was no blame game. The author was clear in stating that these were men who were wrong for her but some of them could be the right man for anyone else.
• She isn't disrespectful towards men; not even the ones she dated.
• Some of the wrong men in the book can easily be wrong women. So it isn't exclusively for women. Men could relate to it as well.
• Last but not the least; I absolutely love the gorgeous cover and illustrations.

In the foreword to the novel written by John Russo, he speaks of the Kelly Rossi as someone with a ‘ribald sense of humor’ and this ironic appreciation of life is reflected in her writing as she manages to narrate heart wrenching stories that are both witty and entertaining.

As for the cons, there aren't any. Everything about the book seemed perfect and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I spent on this book.

I tried to think of an age limit, but the book truly has something to offer for everybody. I haven't had much of a dating life but I still found myself laughing and agreeing with the author at almost every page. No matter your age or your dating history, you will have met at least one or two, if not all, of the ‘Wrong Men’ in the book. So I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars and recommended it to everyone.

Thanks for the great review. I especially like the part "Maybe it isn't you who is responsible for your failed relationship." Seems like some people always think it's someone else's fault, and other people always think it's their own fault. Both kinds need a book written for them, but they tend to read books written for each other!

True, there will always be people on both ends of the spectrum.
