Winning the War on Cancer is a book that spans up to ten chapters, revolving around the life of Sylvie Beljanski. The story of Sylvie Beljanski is a story that is not only inspiring but it shows how determination and the power of the will can help us overcome obstacles. Sylvie Beljanski, who is also the author, tells her story in a captivating and straightforward way.

Sylvie’s father, Dr Mirko Beljanski, was a medical researcher who specialised in trying to find a natural cure for cancer. However, it seemed this type of research was something big pharmaceutical companies were against since it would pose an enormous challenge to their business. All of the sudden, the French authorities sent security forces to confiscate the research materials in the lab of Dr Mirko Beljanski. When Sylvie heard of the fate of his father, she vowed that she would go to greater lengths to prove her father’s innocence. After the death of her father, she also vows to continue her father’s research in trying to find a natural cure for cancer.

The contents of the book are communicated in a simple and easy-to-understand manner. Although the topic revolves around medical issues, the author avoids using medical jargon unnecessarily, thereby making the book more readable for a layperson. I like that the book contains very informative content on medical issues that are beneficial to any person, especially those affected by cancer-related issues. The inclusion of anecdotes that refer to life experiences of Sylvie is something I found to be very refreshing, as it gave me a respite from the medical information. The most interesting part is particularly when the author exposes how big pharmaceutical companies can influence the authorities in the government to achieve certain malevolent designs. I found this information to be very useful and also insightful. In addition, the book is professionally written and contains no typographical errors.

Although the author tried to avoid medical jargon as much as possible, there are still some terms that readers without a medical background would find daunting. For example, concepts of stem cells, NRA and some plant extracts may require some medical knowledge for better appreciation. Regardless of this, I will rate the book 4 out of 4 stars because, despite some shortfalls, the book has been very educative.

The book is very informative for people in the medical field, especially those who specialise in cancer-related issues. I would also recommend the book to those who are interested in knowing more about natural cures. In conclusion, Winning the War on Cancer is a must-read.
