Review of A Dream For Peace
The book A Dream For Peace by Dr Ghoulem Berrah is about real-life events. The author's upbringing, early political activity, experiences, and social life events.
The author was born in Ain Beida, in the province of Constantine, Algeria, to a low-income family. He received financial aid to study medicine in France. He went into politics to fight for the independence of his country. Algeria then was still ruled by the French government. He served worked as a doctor, earning people's love in the process. His career in the health care field gave him access to some prominent figures. This review is only a brief account of the author's life. The autobiography is exciting and well-written.
The author's mother, Lalla Zebida, was a wonderful mother. Per tradition, she did not remarry after the death of her husband, Hamadi Berrah. She did this out of concern that a new husband may not live up to her strict scholastic expectations. She was the author's staunchest ally and significantly influenced his academic success. She embodied good parenting. I wish she had lived long enough to witness the extent of her son's success.
What I liked most was his fight for the independence of his country. He was fervently committed to the liberation of Algeria. He put a lot of effort into activist pursuits, including meetings and organizing other students who shared his views. He fought against racism in his nation. I also liked the author's discussion of his country's customs and culture. He never shied away from expressing his enthusiasm for holidays and his country's cultural traditions.
I appreciated how comprehensive this writing was. The deeply immersed narrator increased the book's gripping potential. However, some readers might think it's a little over the top. About the author, I have a lot of positive things to say. Despite having a challenging background, Ghoulem is a remarkable man. He was subject to prejudice and colonialism's negative impacts. He is devoted, well-mannered, and a real patriot. One thing I particularly respected about Ghoulem was his willingness to stick to his principles. The memoir displays all his achievements. One can learn a lot from them.
There was nothing that I disliked about this book. Therefore I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. Also, it is exceptionally well-written. I would recommend this book to history fanatics and political diplomats. Also, anyone that wants to understand African history during colonial rule. History students can also span their knowledge by reading this book.
