Review of A Dream For Peace
A Dream For Peace is a memoir unlike any other. The author Dr. Ghoulem Berrah has etched his life story into its pages filled with emotions, tragedy, struggle, and strength. Dr. Berrah narrates his life story of being born in Algeria when Algeria was under the influence of France. He then goes on to become the greatest freedom fighter for Algeria. Growing up under colonized territory made a young boy learn grit and persistence earlier than others. Determined to free his people and bring about a change in his land, Dr. Berrah fought many battles despite the obstacles in his journey. Read A Dream For Peace to learn more about this activist’s journey of liberating his homeland.
A Dream For Peace was like watching a documentary of Dr. Berrah’s life. I could picture each scene in my mind thanks to the authors writing style. At the end of the book, I was very much inspired by this man, and he is now definitely one of my revered revolutionaries. Dr. Berrah has a life well lived, overcoming racial, religious, and political barriers.
A Dream For Peace has many facets, and each section is well-written and easy to understand for readers of any age. I like this aspect the most. Reading this memoir never felt difficult to understand, and while there were unfortunate moments for Dr. Berrah, heart-warming support with lighter moments soothed the journey. Another favorite part I loved to read was the bonding between Dr. Berrah and his comrades. Although they had very different upbringings and nationalities, the comrades did their best to help Dr. Berrah. Seeing people come forward and help the author in his time of need gave me respite.
I did not find any negative aspects in this book. The length of the book was long, but it was necessary to show the development in Dr. Berrah’s life. The magnanimous life story of the author also made up for it.
I encountered zero errors while reading A Dream For Peace, also it seems like it was professionally edited. Although the book deals with heavy political and social subjects, the writing was engaging, and the vocabulary was easy.
I rate A Dream For Peace 4 out of 4 stars. Reading the book was a beautiful journey, sometimes inspiring and at times emotional. It was a wholesome book, and Dr. Berrah deserves all the stars.
This book can be read by everybody interested in reading an illustrious memoir. Readers who are curious about African history and the colonization period will find this book quite interesting. The book also describes Dr. Berrah’s relationships with people from different religions, hence it is suitable to be read by people of all faith. Lastly, readers of all age groups are recommended to read this book.
