Review of Reconfigurement
Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer discusses the importance of thorough financial planning, identifying or changing a career path, and establishing a strategic retirement plan. The author addresses several financial topics such as retirement plans, health and life insurance, social security, 401K, investments, and wills. The book states that due to the increased life expectancy in the United States, the traditional belief that 65 is the age for retirement is no longer valid, so individuals who want to retire early have to plan with that consideration in mind. It also introduces the concept of making less money but working more years. The author emphasizes that to take steps toward reconfigurement, one has to realize that their greatest asset is their ability to work and earn a living. In the book, the author also includes several personal and career assessments for his readers and links to these assessments on various platforms. He encourages his readers in the later stages of their lives that it is never too late to make a change.
Reconfigurement approaches the complex topic of finance in such a refreshing manner. The author utilized his experience and expertise as a financial advisor to simplify financial planning without overwhelming his readers. The tone of the author was very casual, conversational, and engaging. All chapters contained fun facts and jokes which were amusing and relaxing. Generally, this book was very detailed and informative.
What I loved the most about Reconfigurement were the links to the assessments that kept me engaged. Some of my favorite exercises were the 123test and Traitify. I also loved the friendly approach of the author because it made understanding the information provided much easier. The author also included names of several other books which contain accurate information on career choices and financial planning for his readers who want further information.
I found nothing to dislike about this book which is why I am rating it a 4 out of 4 stars. It was a very informative read, and I look forward to re-reading it at a time in my life when I can put all the information gained to practical use.
I recommend Reconfigurement to adults who want to make financial changes in their lives and do not know where to begin, as it will serve as a guide. I also recommend it to people who feel stuck in a particular job or career path because they want to make and save money for retirement as fast as possible. This book will remind its readers that less may be more.
