A Dream For Peace is an autobiography, by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah which shares his life experiences from childhood to adulthood. He is raised by his mother, Lalla Zebida, in a small town known as Aïn Beïda in northeastern Algeria. Lalla Zebida, being a woman that values education, teaches her son and supports him in all his decision to further his education. He travelled to France to complete his education as a medical doctor, there he became a political activist and a freedom fighter for his country, Algeria, to gain her independence. He meets a woman, named Antoinette, in France, who is also an anti-colonist and anti-racist. He falls in love with Antoinette and marries her.

The author of this book is a wonderful storyteller; I enjoyed reading this book because I learned a lot from it. This book contained the author's political and life experiences; what he majorly faced in his country and France for being an African. I loved that the author wrote about how Algeria got her independence, the fights, and the wars that were put in by the Algerians. I loved that the author was a man of integrity. He was self-determined and stood for what he believed in. He dreamt of a country where there would be peace and freedom for people, no discrimination or racism, and his dreams came through. I admired the characters the author possessed in this book, they were worthy of being learned by other people. How I loved that he documented his experiences of changing his career path from science to art, this taught me that I can be whoever I want to be as far as I can put my efforts and my heart into it. I admired his first wife, Antoinette, she was a brave woman who knew what she wanted and went for it. I believe that this book has historical content that will be beneficial for every African student. In addition, I loved how the author opened each chapter with insightful headings.

There were no grammatical errors in this book. This book was well edited.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it was a great book that I learned a lot of life and political lessons from.

The book contains a historical memoir, so I recommend it to people especially African students that are interested in knowing the history of Africans.
