Review of Reconfigurement
Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleisher is a non-fiction book centered on a chasm to disconnect tradition from reality regarding the retirement approach. The author created a program to address the need for planning for retirement, pointing out pre- and post-retirement activities such as gainful employment. This concept of reconfigurement financial planning recognizes life at any stage and discourages quitting jobs abruptly without planning. Traditionally defined benefit retirement plans pose a burden when finding, choosing, and monitoring investments. On the other hand, new retirement strategies are far beyond investments and asset-focused plans and focus on accumulation and prudent management of assets. To add on, E. Alan Fleisher has handled questions, possibilities, and strategies on where to start, how to plan, and how to set personal goals. Finally, the author tackled eligibility for social security benefits, universal life insurance, and myths about the social security systems in the United States of America.
It is a well-written book to read. To begin with, the content is well expounded and coupled with applicable and practical real-life instances that are very educative and relevant and do not burden the reader. Again, the author has referred the reader to other books with similar content: Retirement Planning Guidebook by Wade Pfau and The Best Work-From-Home Jobs For 2020: Legitimate Remote Jobs Are (Almost) Always Hiring by Annie Sandmeier. Once more, insights in this book lay a lot of emphasis on the need for planning and providing experience and tools that are educational and eye-opening to council and lead clients. Moreover, the author has given tips that help in self-assessments, highlighting the six basic career personality types within the Holland Codes: realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional. Furthermore, as an innovative financial advisor, the author has used his experience to encourage readers to work hard, invest, and save as much as possible.
I did not find any negative aspects to report about this book.
I rate this book four out of four stars. The book is edited professionally. Additionally, the concepts are well presented and align with the title, Reconfigurement.
I recommend this book to adults in the middle age group. The author has written passionately, encouraging the reader to consider midlife challenges and crises as a turning point and to reconfigure their lives into something more rewarding. Adoption of a reconfigurement financial plan will renew their dreams, hopes, and aspirations even as they plan for their retirement age.
