Review of Reconfigurement
Planning for the future is crucial to one's survival. Once we get a job, retirement is far from our minds, especially if we are young. If you are currently working, what will happen when you cannot work anymore? Do you have the means to maintain your lifestyle? When and how should you start planning for retirement? Reconfigurement: Reconfiguring Your Life at Any Stage and Planning Ahead by E. Alan Fleischauer is a book aimed at helping people plan for their future. He covers topics such as life insurance, health insurance, and college saving plans.
I never expected a book on a topic as boring as retirement to be entertaining. The author had a vibrant sense of humor which kept his readers engaged and entertained. I was almost done reading the book without even realizing it. The ideas in this book were well presented, and I appreciate the fact that the author did not just gloss over the terms, but explained them in detail. Before reading this book, I did not understand how 401k worked and what it entailed. This book is a valuable one for anyone starting their career. The author emphasizes that starting to plan for retirement early in your career is important if you want to retire comfortably.
This book was an educational one, and I did not find anything that hindered my reading experience. I would have preferred if the author had named each chapter as it would allow easier navigation for people who want to reread a certain section. This is a personal preference that did not take away anything from this book. The author seemed to have done some extensive research to provide us with such valuable information. I appreciate how well-structured the book was.
Reconfigurement: Reconfiguring Your Life at Any Stage and Planning Ahead is a book that warrants a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. It had no typing or grammatical errors, which is a testament to how exceptionally well edited it was. My favorite chapter was the one that dealt with qualified retirement plans. I had no idea that some plans offer more benefits than others. This is an important piece of information to take into consideration when planning to retire.
From the first day you start working, you should start thinking about your retirement plans. I would recommend this book to persons who are of the working class. I would also recommend it to people who are near retirement age with no plans. Hopefully, this book will get you on the road to retire comfortably.
