Review of Reconfigurement
All of us age and get older. Every single one of us will begin our life with limitless dreams and aspirations. However, there will come a time when we have to give it a rest and finally retire. What are we supposed to do when we retire? When should we retire, and what do we do when we finally have? In Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer, it’s time we find out and start planning out our lives.
Reconfigurement is a book about financial planning for retirement. It aims to give its readers important insights and suggestions that may guide them in building a safety net for themselves. In a concise yet comprehensive manner, Alan discusses topics like life protection and health insurance. He also teaches us how to be smart about our money in the least condescending way. He combines statistics, stories, and jokes to allow readers to make sense of what they are reading.
I would recommend this to readers in the middle classes and those over 30 years old. This age seems proper enough for those who have years ahead of them, but also have the responsibility to worry about having enough money to pay for the remnants of their time. This book discusses the urgency of financially planning at this time, and the urgency to think about it at an early age. It does not aim to pressure those within this age group but suggests to them that it may be a good thing to think about.
There is nothing I disliked about Reconfigurement. I especially loved the delivery of this book. The author asks questions in between his narratives. This style makes his book very engaging. On top of that, these questions also trigger the readers to ask themselves important questions. After all, the author does remind us in the book that retirement is different for every single one of us. There are even some self-assessments that Alan recommends taking. I have personally attempted a few and have found all of them helpful. The author does not simply tell you what to do as he understands that there is no single track for all of us, and I loved that concept. This book was also professionally edited. I did not find any errors. With all of this said, I rate Reconfigurement four out of four stars.
Alan considers all the possible viewpoints on the topic he chose, and he made sure to sound credible yet extremely friendly and approachable in his narratives. Without a doubt, I’m sure readers would learn a lot from Alan’s book. I am only in college and am working part-time, but I have learned tons. I applaud him for writing such a successful and helpful book.
