Confederates in the Attic: Dispatches from the Unfinished Civil War
A wonderful book and it is amazing insight. Confederates in the Attic: Dispatches from the Unfinished Civil War by Tony Horwitz was written over a decade ago (1999) but it is still a well respected, accurate interpretation of the American South. Tony Horwitz traveled through the south with hardcore reenactors to understand the history of the Civil War. But Tony Horwitz's book delivered not just into the history but the modern interpretation and how it is present in the modern world. Confederates in the Attic is a wonderful, funny, travel book that reads like a comedian and historian rolled into one. It is used by academics in classrooms, travelers, historians, college students, and adults enjoying a book. I recommend it.
