Have you ever wondered what your retirement days would be like? Do you think it's necessary to plan for your retirement? When do you think is the best time to start planning? What are the best tools to help you plan ahead? This book, Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer, holds the answers to these questions and even more.

Reconfigurement is a nonfiction guidebook that provides pieces of insightful information about retirement, career assessment, income protection, life insurance, disability insurance, 401k, 529 college insurance, Social Security, etc. It described the terms "tradition" and "reality" of Americans today. Grab the book to find out what American reality is all about and how it affects retirement plans. 

Alan has been a financial advisor for more than 20 years. So he was compelled to create a real solution that bridges the gap between tradition and reality in American society today. He painstakingly described the issues surrounding retirement and, most importantly, planning ahead. He acknowledged that 70 percent of Americans don't like their jobs, which leads to some quitting abruptly without planning ahead. He, therefore, made a list of career assessment sites that could help one discover their personality strengths and choose a more suitable career while noting the careers to avoid. One such career assessment is the Holland Code. Mr. Fleischauer equally analyzed different scenarios in retirement planning and suggested the options best suited for each scenario. I relish the simplicity of the author's writing style. I particularly enjoyed the conversational style of writing. The occasional jokes by the writer made it interesting to read and enjoy even the mind-numbing parts. One of my favourite jokes was where he said, "The only thing that travels faster than light is your weekend". I'm impressed with his research work and his ability to disclose viable information that will be useful for the readers. One instance was where he asserted that the rate of early claims at the age of 62 was reduced from 54% to 31% for women and from 50% to 27% for men, between the years 2005 and 2018. He noted that this was because people were getting wiser. Another instance is that many folks wait until they approach 65 to start thinking about a retirement plan. The author did not stop at a retirement plan; he went further to enlist various sources to find part-time jobs or work-from-home jobs, which gained popularity during the pandemic. 

The only thing I disliked about the book was the insufficient use of illustrations to describe some of the less exciting topics, such as Medicaid. I did, however, enjoy the story of Frank and Ann. The book is professionally edited, as I found only a few errors, which, of course, did not interfere with the flow. 

I, however, rate the book 4 out of 4 stars because of the well-rounded information it contains and its ability to captivate readers. And I would recommend it to anyone that is over 30 and people that are about to retire from work or are even planning to make a career change. You'll definitely find something suitable for you.

Absolutely! That's why the author decided to bridge those gaps. It's not entirely about saving early but also making other smart choices in terms of career and life expectations.

I'm sure many young people do not pay attention to retirement. This book is crucial, as such. I appreciate the author trying to make this dull topic as light as possible. Beautiful review

Most young people do not necessarily Invision their financial live after retirement. I appreciate that this book brings the need to do that to light and also always to improve our financial status. Nice review.
