Review of Reconfigurement
Reconfigurement is a book written by E. Alan Fleischauer in 2022. The book is about financial planning and is focused on improving finances for and/or after retirement, especially in America’s financial industry.
E. Alan Fleischauer explains that Reconfigurement is about "planning ahead" and also approaching financial planning for retirement in a way that is suitable for this century due to the changing laws and policies concerning the financial industry. The book offers detailed explanations and insights on strategies that might be helpful for career planning and retirement planning. These strategies are mostly aimed at Americans who are between the ages of 40 and 50, as they are at the right stage in their lives to reconfigure their finances and plan for their retirement. The strategies offered in this book are centered on budgeting, finding a career that you enjoy, investing, and/or saving money for the future, in case something tragic happens and affects a person’s ability to generate income.
Thus, Reconfigurement helps in securing one’s future in retirement, but it does not solely focus on that, it also financially secures the family members of the person doing the reconfiguring. There are also websites and software that are suggested in the book. These websites and software are useful for the process of reconfiguring one’s finances and enjoying retirement.
The author’s writing and use of humor in the book was great, and I appreciated most of the insights provided, as some of those insights could be useful to everyone, even if you are not a middle-aged American. I liked that the author used humor in between the chapters to keep the reader engaged, as reading about finances can be boring for some people, and the humor was also centered around finances and financial planning. E. Alan Fleischauer, in my opinion, also offers great suggestions on where to get career advice, which is useful information for anyone in any working age group, especially if they are looking to find a career that they will enjoy doing. I really appreciated the author’s opinion on an individual’s uniqueness, as society and employers would like to have people believe that they are all the same and are replaceable.
The only thing I can think of as a negative aspect of this book is that its focus is solely on the American financial industry, which limits the book's audience to only Americans. In my opinion, this book has the potential to reach and help people from all over the world, especially as some of the insights offered could be helpful and applicable to people from other countries. The information in this book could also be useful to people of all working ages and nationalities, even though the author meant for the target audience to be middle-aged Americans.
Overall, Reconfigurement is a great book filled with great insights and advice on finding the perfect career and managing one’s finances in order to have an enjoyable retirement. The book has no errors, which leads me to the conclusion that it was professionally edited. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
Since Reconfigurement is about planning ahead for the future, the people who would enjoy this book are people who want to enjoy their career and their retirement, and also people who want to manage their finances in a way that will lead to their being able to take care of themselves and their families after retirement.
