E. Alan Fleischauer introduces the book as ‘Reconfigurement Financial Planning,’ which is a concise summary of the book. Reconfigurement challenges us to rethink our traditional strategies for planning for retirement. Just as Kanye West wrote ‘New Slaves,’ Alan Fleischauer’s Reconfigurement is a new freedom. He guides us through getting our source of income via choosing a career, securing our income through disability insurance, and financing our retirement and our descendants through life insurance and college plans.

There is nothing to dislike about this book. Reconfigurement is light-hearted, fun, and funny – or at least it tries to be. If I were forced to find a fault, I would say the book’s narrow scope of financial advice to Americans. Regardless of that statement, the book’s limited scope is a positive in itself as it covers an advanced financial market and applies to America and Europe. The book’s scope also allows for a specialized look at financial opportunities and keeps the book short, concise, and easy to read. Alan Fleischauer spices up the book with images of quotes and accompanying stories to enforce the point he makes. I loved this book, and any negative comment I make betrays my reading experience.

There is no drawback I could find regarding this book. It was a pleasant read with nothing to take away from the author.

There was nothing to dislike and a lot to love about this book. The book was professionally edited with minimal errors that in no way affected the flow or the reading experience. Being in my mid-20s, I found this book incredibly insightful, and I enjoyed Alan Fleischauer’s writing. For these reasons, I rate the book four out of four stars. Alan Fleischauer is a brilliant author, and I would like to read more from him.

Being a book on reconfiguring retirement planning, it becomes least effective for the elderly above 70 years and would probably have little to no effect on children below 18. Thus I would recommend this book to 30 to 50-year-olds, to whom it would be most effective as they are most likely to be stable enough financially to think about retirement. Reconfigurement is a financial planning advisor, so it would cut across all genders, races, and religions because we face the same financial considerations. And most importantly, it’s centered on the American condition, so although it’s good reading material for everyone, I would recommend it to Americans of the specified ages.
