Reconfigurement is a non-fictional book written by E. Alan Fleischauer. It focuses on planning ahead, resulting in maximum benefits after retirement with less strain on life now.

The author explains the difference between reality and tradition regarding financial security in today’s scenario. He describes what the most important asset that a person has is and how to insure it. He gives a list of assessments that will help a person ascertain what fields will be the best for them in case of a career change later in life. There are also chapters detailing retirement plans, life insurance, social security, investment etc.

The author has clearly put in great effort to make the book easily understandable while being informative at the same time. There are quite a few jokes sprinkled throughout the book which make the boring subject of finance not so unbearable. The tone of the writing is informal and it doesn’t feel like you are studying about a very serious topic. In fact, reading this book feels as if a very friendly professor is teaching you personally.

The book has a nice structure. You understand things as you keep reading with no confusion as to what the significance of a sub-topic is. The transition between different topics is nicely done. The author has mentioned many references and websites, making the reading experience interactive and enjoyable. The advice in the book is accompanied with definite facts which have been meticulously researched by the author.

This book is well-researched and simple to understand. Difficult topics that usually take people a lot of time to grasp are easily perceivable. I didn’t think there was anything that could have been improved upon in this book.

I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. There were hardly any typos or grammatical errors in the text. The main focus of the book- planning ahead is useful advice not only for middle-aged people, but also people who are just starting their careers.

I recommend this book to people in their forties or fifties who are interested in changing their jobs but are concerned about the effect on their retirement. This book is written keeping Americans in mind but is also beneficial for people around the world. Financial security is a topic that concerns people of all ages. Though the target audience for this book are people in their forties and fifties, there are facts and advice in it for all people, even students.
