Reconfigurement, according to the author, is simply planning ahead. Now, you may wonder what exactly we need to plan for since most of us plan ahead before making decisions. However, have you ever considered the importance of planning ahead for retirement? Perhaps you have, but I can assure you that E. Alan Fleischauer's book opens your eyes to a lot of factors you may have missed.

Reconfigurement is basically a book about retirement planning. The author starts the book by telling us about the potential doom that threatens the future of most Americans. He talks about the need for restructuring in the aspect of retirement planning. He explains that the urgent need for this change comes from the change and increase in the average life span of an American. With changes in the life span of an individual comes extra expenses for the more years spent alive. As the author explained in the book, 65 as the age of retirement was agreed on at a time when the average life span of an American was 62 years. Evolution in science and medicine has increased this by over 30 years. How can we effectively plan for a good life while saving for retirement?

The first appealing feature I found while reading this book was the author's writing style. I am usually one for mystery and romance books, but whatever moved me to take up this book was not wrong. The author writes in a manner that is funny yet insightful. He passes his messages across in dialogue format. I had several laughs while reading this book for a book I had thought would have a serious tone. The author doesn't just use figures and statistics in passing his message. He uses himself as an example. The author reiterates the need to plan ahead, stating that retirement planning should be done as if an individual is preparing for a new job before leaving the job he hates.

Currently, I believe that a lot of parents, especially in the country I live, believe that their children are their retirement plans. While I agree that children should care for their parents in old age, I am against the idea of totally leaving the burden to children who are not even assured of success yet and have their own burdens to face. The author shows us in this book how to plan with the little we have. He considers various factors such as income, investments, and budgets and even talks about the importance of loving your job. We are provided with links to career assessment tests and other tests which we can take to nudge us in the right direction while choosing a career. I appreciated the author's honesty in telling us his own results and how efficient he believed the tests to be. The book was also exceptionally well edited. I could not find any errors in it.

The only aspect of the book I did not appreciate was the fact that the author's intended audience is Americans. While this is his choice, I found it difficult to relate to certain things like the 401(k) plan. This hindered my satisfaction with some parts of the book. I believe since this book is available to a wider audience, the author should have considered them.

I rate the book four out of four stars. The negative aspect I mentioned did not warrant the deduction of any stars because the book proves to be an insightful read regardless. I recommend this book to anyone planning toward their retirement or simply looking for better financial planning.

I find your negative aspect of the book discouraging. This is because I am not an American, and the book is intended for Americans. I will still check it out, though, because I might learn a thing or two from it. Thank you for this lovely review.

The title of this book already says what this book is all about. I think this book would be suitable for people in their 20s or even 30s rather than parents. People should start planning their retirement early. Thank you for your review.

The book appears to be very detailed. The author must have dedicated a lot of time and effort in this book to have created such a masterpiece. I have grown through several reviews of the book, and I can't wait to read the book itself.

I don't like the fact that this book is intended only for Americans. But I would still give it a try because the author really did a good job with the book. I can't even imagine the amount of time he spent on research alone. Thank you for this beautiful review.

The major problem people around my locality have is that they fail to plan ahead. So, in the end they realize that they had planned to fail instead. I think this book would be helpful to one or two people around here and would be looking forward to recommending it to them. Thank you!

You are not wrong about the fact that parents rely on their children as retirement plans. While I feel this may be due to a lack of adequate funds, I feel better can be done. This is why Reconfigurement is a good read.
