Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer offers a very interesting and unique way to view the critical issue of financial management and how well we are prepared for retirement. Surprisingly, such things are not taught in school yet they form an integral part of our lives. People are left with the option of making such decisions based on myths and here say. Those who are lucky enough get to hire someone else who might also have some biases.

One of the things addressed by the book that caught my eye is what a person needs to consider before quitting their job. Many times we have heard some experts advise quitting without offering an elaborate plan on what to consider in the short term and how such a decision will affect your future. The author has also discussed how the increase in life expectancy has put retirement plans in jeopardy. He says that the age of retirement being used now was put in place in the 30s when life expectancy was very low hence today people end up suffering after retirement since their savings or pension run out.

There are so many things to love about this book. I loved how the author offers practical solutions to various problems we are currently facing and the need to evaluate what is happening versus the myths. Another idea discussed in the book that I loved is insurance and how it helps secure our lives against unseen events. For example, an illness can occur suddenly and make the family suffer huge consequences. I also loved the examples and in-text quotes used by the author to reinforce the intended message. The author has also gone out of his way to provide resources such as websites one can go to for different kinds of information such as career choices and guidance. The editors of this work deserve applause for a job well done. The book is exceptionally well-edited and I did not find any editorial errors. This added to the overall beauty of the book.

I didn't find anything, in particular, to dislike about this book. The book is not only educative but also interesting to read. It challenged me to question what I believe in some issues such as investment and career choices.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because of its effectiveness in passing on the intended message. The author has found a unique way to help us think about what is real and what is ideal. I recommend this book to people worried about their future and how to plan for the same. Technically this book is for everyone. Am looking forward to reading something else from this author.
