Growing older is a given. We would all age and be unable to perform active work. Plans that we set into motion while we were still actively working would keep us going at that old age. Everyone should be able to retire in comfort and affluence rather than misery.

This book, Reconfigurement, concerns itself with preparing people to plan for retirement. The author, E. Alan Fleischauer is an experienced financial adviser, and he assists his clients with retirement planning. The typical American strategy of investing and saving for retirement, he noted, was no longer successful. He devised a new method to address the shortcomings of the conventional save and invest approach since times have changed and individuals must adapt.

The book’s chapters address a wide range of subjects, including income protection, disability insurance, life insurance, social security, career assessments, and so forth. The chapter that stood out to me most was the one on career assessment. There’s a link to a career aptitude assessment test that will reveal your career personality. The chapter also featured some other tests. After these tests, you could research your top five career choices. You should take these tests if you want to know what careers would be the best fit for you.

One thing I found enjoyable about this book is the humorous tone the author adopted occasionally. The jokes would put readers at ease. Another thing I like about the book is that the author was very sincere and didn’t sugarcoat. Many people are unaware of the reality they would be faced with when at retirement age, so he provides straightforward statistical facts in their current form. The solution may seem to be as simple as saving for retirement, but this is not the case. The author took his time to describe the many methods accessible, along with their benefits and drawbacks.

Regarding this book, I have no criticisms. I didn’t encounter any errors, and for that, I’ll say this book was exceptionally well-edited. The book is not lacking in any aspect, so it deserves a full rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to people in the working class, especially those living in America. It doesn’t matter your age, as long as you are a part of the workforce already. Planning would not hurt. Persons not in America can read as well to learn more about retirement.
