Retirement doesn't have to be so daunting if you know how to plan ahead. Reconfigurement is a book written by an experienced financial advisor, E. Alan Fleischauer. He tries to help retirees by introducing the concept of Reconfigurement, a financial planning tool that offers ways to plan your finances at any stage of your life. The author discusses topics like income protection plans, benefits of social security, investing, health insurance, and other related subjects.

The author highlights the importance of planning all of one's financial or career decisions ahead of time. In terms of career decisions, the author stresses the significance of career assessments. In financial matters like investing, people should understand their own risk profiles and how these might affect their investment decisions. The author emphasizes the importance of having fun before you retire, which I think is the essence of this book.

What sets this book apart from any other book that tackles the same subject is the author's approach. The author explains difficult financial concepts in a manner that is short and easy to digest. What I like the most about the book is the attempt by the author to keep the discussion light and conversational. I appreciate how the author cracks jokes every now and then, reminding me of a college professor who loves to joke around with his students. The book strives to be comprehensive with insights based on factual data and established studies. The author does not shy away from facilitating his claims with some supporting data, proving that he's very knowledgeable on the subject.

Apart from citing his references, the author also provides ideas on where one can access these resources. It's convenient to sometimes have these resources on the exact pages of the book. Furthermore, the book has a coherent organization. It's easy to navigate the book because each chapter has a nice flow. I don't have anything negative to say about the book.

Overall, I'm giving this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. It covers everything one needs to know about the financial aspects of retirement. It is complete with useful references. The reader will not find this boring because the author makes a conscious effort to include some funny jokes or anecdotes. Also, I did not see any errors, so the editing must be excellent. I would recommend this to people who are interested in the subject. Whether you're in your 20s, 30s, or 60s, you will gather something useful from this book.
