At some point in our lives, we would all love to live blissfully in retirement; however, many of us are unable to achieve this due to the lack of knowledge and resources we have when it comes to planning ahead. E. Alan Fleischauer simplified retirement strategies in his thought-provoking book, Reconfigurement. Fleischauer provides statistics and well-researched information. At one point he explains that there is an increase in the average lifespan. He then asks an interesting question - What are we going to do with those extra years? This opens up a vast discussion on the various options we have in planning ahead for those years to come.

Often we would think of a retirement book as uninteresting, so I like how Fleischauer uses humorous tones in between and adds a little joke after each chapter that coincides with the topic. This makes it easier for one to remember the information and creates a flowing connection between the reader and the author. I like that the book isn’t restricted only to making endless money wherever one finds the opportunity but rather doing so through living a meaningful life. Fleischauer also speaks about a way to combat boredom after retirement and encourages one to live his/her dream. He teaches one how to explore the concept of career assessments which will allow one to discover one's personality type and direct one to a suitable career. He also helps the reader unfold the type of careers to avoid or one's that might not be suitable for him/her. He provides various options and also helps the reader choose a suitable one by explaining the pros and cons. He strives to help find the best decision for each individual and simplifies it even more by breaking it into smaller parts. It is evident that he puts a lot of effort into finding appropriate resources and openheartedly shares them to the best of his abilities. One can easily detect his concern for his readers and his eagerness to help people succeed. I enjoyed the budget layout. It’s such an important topic that many of us struggle with and can help in various ways.

I've learned a lot from this book and feel that it was well written. I have found a few errors towards the end of the book; however, it still seems professionally edited, nonetheless. I, therefore, rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.

I would recommend Reconfigurement to those who are interested in saving up for retirement, intend to start a new business or switch jobs. This book would also be beneficial to those who struggle with career choices as well as those who have concerns about running out of money and are willing to put the effort into planning ahead.
