Rome in Four Days is a travel guide based on the city of Rome in Italy, written by Enrico Massetti. It is short e-guide which can be easily accessed via tablet or smartphone.

This e-guide is designed to help the readers cover the major attractions of Rome in a span of four days. The pattern of this e-guide is quite interesting. Before starting out with the main text, the author has devoted a page to giving out some easy tips to readers to avoid wasting time standing in queues. The book is mainly divided into four chapters containing the itinerary for four days. Every chapter starts with a map of the places which are to be covered on that day, highlighting the route to be followed. The map is followed by the list of places to be visited on that day and the order of their visit. These places include tourist sites like the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, the Piazza del Campidoglio, the Pantheon, the Vatican City, the Ostia Antica, the Borghese Gallery, the Catacombs, etc. The activities are planned out according to what will suit that time of the day, like late afternoon has been suggested as the right time to go on a panoramic drive on the Double-Decker buses of the Atac 110 line. After setting out the itinerary, the author proceeds to give the description of the places that are to be visited on that day. The description includes a brief explanation of the architecture or importance of that site, its history and its present relevance as a tourist destination. The description of the tourist attractions also includes really captivating photos of that area. Ever chapter concludes with a list of restaurants where the travelers can have their lunch, along with their TripAdvisor links. The book concludes with giving out useful information on places to stay at Rome, how to reach Rome by different modes of transport, how to travel within Rome, and other such relevant information.

What really impressed me about this e-guide is the concept of a guide that is designed to explore a city within a specified time period. The author has carefully planned out the activities of the day and laid down the route to be followed. Following the instructions of the author will help the traveler derive maximum satisfaction from the four day tour. The author has also included some interesting and not-so-well known details of the tourist attractions, in his e-guide that would entertain the reader/traveler. The inclusion of various internet links in the e-guide is also a useful idea.

The e-guide however, does not contain any useful information on where a traveler can shop for souvenirs. Also, if you are a traveler looking for the lesser known, out-of-the box attractions of Rome, then this e-guide is not going to prove very helpful.

I rate this book 3 out of 4, for its concept catering to travelers who want to fit in as much as possible within a short period of time.

Great review! When I saw the title, I was expecting the book to be about the author's 4-day vacation in Rome. It's a treat to find out that it's a helpful travel guide for someone spending a few days in Rome. When people travel to Europe, they often spend only a few days in each city or country. This book seems like it would help tourists make the most of their sightseeing time.

Thanks for your nice review. I incorporated all the suggestions you made, like "where to buy souvenirs" in the ebook, I think they are very well taken.
