Retirement is something that we seldom think about when we are young, it is something that we feel our older self will deal with but this is where we commit a huge mistake. Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a perfect book to understand the importance of planning for retirement and also helping us realize that we can reconfigure our lives at any age. The book covers a lot of topics like social security, investments, wills, trusts, insurance, etc., which are explained in easy-to-understand language.

E. Alan Fleischhauer is a financial adviser and a Retirement Income Certified Professional, a designation about which he talks about in the book. He has done an excellent job at making such complex and technical topics so easy to understand and also his anecdotes make it interesting. The best thing about the book is that you learn so much from it but it doesn't feel like you are reading a textbook, as it has so many jokes and the tone of the book is light-hearted that you will enjoy reading it, even if you have no idea about investments and insurance, etc.

I liked the chapter on career and personality assessments, it is the most appealing part of the book and it is quite fun to take those assessments. The book has some mind-altering ideas like working beyond the age of 65 and taking up work that we enjoy doing. The writer also tells us why 65 was chosen as the retirement age and why it is redundant now. The book is both informative and entertaining. I don't prefer reading non-fiction books but I found this one to be engaging and fast-paced. One negative aspect of the book was that the investment chapter was a little boring, it could have been engrossing if it had more relatable examples.

I'll give this book 4 out of 4 stars as it has been able to cover the topic of retirement in a comprehensive and intelligible manner that can be understood by people who do not have knowledge of finance and the nitty gritty of investments.

The book was well edited as I could find very few errors. I would recommend this book to everyone who is working and plans to save for the future and is financially aware or wants to be. This book can be of huge help to people who have no idea how to manage their finance as it covers budgeting and investments.
