With inflation and the cost of living reaching unprecedented levels, a good retirement plan is nothing short of necessary. Retirement - a single, straightforward word that sends shivers down the spine of many adults, and even some teenagers. Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer sheds incredible, irreversible light on retirement, thereby replacing doubts with knowledge.

Reconfigurement in two words: planning ahead. In other words: it's planning ahead which gives you peace of mind and a higher chance of a more optimistic, well-planned future. The average retirement age is 65, yet many want to retire before then and enjoy an easy, stress-free life…but they don’t want to plan ahead. Just the mere thought of retirement creates a bottomless well of anxiety dug by a myriad of questions such as: Will I have enough money? How much will I spend in a month? How much will I spend in a year? A popular saying is that you only live once, so people try to enjoy the spur of the moment without much consideration for the future - insufferable jobs are quit, healthy diets become non-existent and savings are squandered. This book advises against this. Instead, it delves deeper into financial and retirement plans to present you with sweet-sounding tips that guarantee you a steadier, well-thought-through retirement. From policies to assessment tests, this book is packed with helpful guidance that will not leave you stranded. With this gem, you can build your retirement plan or at least get an idea of how to make one.

This book is divided into a considerable amount of chapters which is beneficial because it allows the direction it gives to be separated into small chunks of information. This prevents them from being mixed up as each chapter focuses on a particular topic which is exemplified concisely. Its points are explained briefly and comprehensively - a tactic that ensured the book streamed smoothly as most points were easily understood.

I also extremely enjoyed how the author switched the use of language in the book. The seamless flow from formal language when discussing matters regarding retirement to colloquial language for less serious issues engages and entertains the reader leading to a captivating mix of being intensely informed and being amused. This is also emphasized through the addition of jokes and delightful puns which lightened up the atmosphere when critical matters were being discussed. It also made the book memorable. Even though the target audience is significantly older, an interested younger audience will be able to connect more with the book due to this addition.

I would not say I found anything specifically irking or detrimental about Reconfigurement but most of the statistics and references used were American which could lead to non-Americans feeling left out. Apart from that, there were no more negative aspects.

I rate Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer 4 out of 4 stars. The negative aspects played a minor role and did not take away from the overall experience of the book. Moreover, the book was professionally well-edited.

I would recommend this book to lovers of non-fiction, specifically those interested in learning about retirement plans. It can be read by all as profanities or sexual references were not made, however, it is more suited for adults as they are in a better place to prepare for retirement.
