Unificationists: What They Believe by Nelson Mira is a historical nonfiction book that gives insight into the religious practices of what the Unification Church believes in. In the first chapter, the author clarifies that the unificationists believe that not everything was written down in the Bible. The author explains how God relates to humanity at every stage of history using some biblical passages, how the unificationists believe that the new expression from God is the divine principle of the Rev. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon, which is what is needed at this particular stage of mankind called the last days.

In the second chapter, the author explains how the divine principle reconciled the contradictions between religion and science by stating that the six days of creation are not literal 24 hours of each day, but rather each day consists of millions of years. The author explains that God invested his time to create everything, and the six days represent the six ordered periods.

I admire a lot of things in this book. First and foremost, this book is beautiful as it was written based on the author’s personal experience as a Unification member. For example, in his explanation about the mass wedding of the Church, he used his own experience, from meeting his wife for the first time and taking part in the numerous ceremony involved. This entirely made me understand more about this particular practice of the Unification Church. Another thing I admire in this book is how throughout this book, the author did not underline that this new religious practice is superior, even though the teachings are contradictory to some conventional Christian beliefs, especially the part where he explained the role of Jesus to mankind. Also, in this book, I was able to learn what this new religious practice understands about God and how they understand the will of God for mankind. This book was able to help me know more about the Unification members and accept some of their beliefs from a logical point of view. I enjoyed reading and learning things I didn't know because most of what is written in this book are quotes from the Bible, even though their religious interpretation is contradictory. Another thing about this book is that it is well-written, and I didn't seem to come across any grammar errors while reading it.

The only thing I didn't like about this book is that some of the facts provided in this book are inaccurate. For example, when he talked about the role of Jesus Christ in mankind, I was expecting more concrete evidence to back his opinion. I noticed that some Bible interpretations in this book are heretical to Christianity. Nevertheless, I appreciate this author's sincerity in giving a better insight into this new religion. Therefore I will be rating this book 3 out of 4 stars.

I will recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about a new religious practice and anyone interested in understanding the Unification Church and its mass wedding, as this book gives detailed information about their belief and practices.

This is honestly the first time I have heard of the Unification Church and I don't think this book is for me. I do think your review was excellently done and you gave a lot of insight into this book. I believe this book will shed a lot of light on people interested in this. Well done with your review.

I have heard over and again that there are some missing scrolls and information not included in the Bible. I've even read in some texts that they were intentionally removed. Well, I'd love to see how the Unification Church uses this to propagate their agenda. I also like the balance the author created between science and religion. Shame about the lack of evidence to back some of the points.

I've come across the information that some parts of the Bible were omitted. I've been opportuned to read one of them and I can say I think it was necessary that they were removed. This book goes against almost everything I believe in, and as such I'll be skipping it.

A nonfiction book where the author talks about the belief of unification, how they believed that everything is not written down in the bible and how they believed that six days of creation don't equalize 24 hours of each day. This is a book I will love to read. Thanks for the review.
