Many scholars have weighed in on how to approach retirement, but Reconfigurement by Alan Fleischauer provides insight into what to expect after you retire and how to manage your finances to avoid making costly mistakes. The importance of planning can't be underemphasized. This book is from one of the best financial advisors in the US to people.

Alan intends to put an end to the lack of financial planning in the US by people who have retired or are yet to retire. Written humorously and conversationally, Alan discusses financial topics in a way that would keep any reader engaged. I'm not retired, but I found this book very handy. Even though Alan limits this to a topic for people in the US, I was still engaged to the end, and I have started practicing some of these principles. Reconfigurement isn't just for the elderly but also for young people to avoid making the mistakes many people have made in the past financially. The book spans 14 chapters, each giving a different means of planning our lives.

I was skeptical about reading this book, but its cover allured me to talk about it. I didn't know what "reconfigurement" meant until I began reading. It wasn't an easy read, not because the words were cumbersome or large amounts of financial jargon, which was contrary. I read through slowly to avoid missing out on any crucial information. It is okay to say that the book was practical and that the author's personal experiences made it easier to understand.

There's nothing to dislike in this book. I'm not a citizen of the US, but I found this principle also applicable in my country. I didn't believe I would laugh so hard while reading a book on finance. The need to enlighten people financially is not to be overlooked. A lot of people make mistakes because of the little or no knowledge they have about this topic. I don't think anyone should have a problem understanding this book. The vocabulary was straightforward. The book was chronologically arranged to help readers navigate through it. I think this is a wake-up call to people who spend without planning.

I don't see any reason for rating this book less than 4 out of 4 stars. I can boldly say I'm more financially literate after reading this book. Anyone who enjoys reading books on the subtleties of finance would enjoy this book. It was exceptionally well edited.
