Review of Reconfigurement
Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a financial help book that focuses on the need and importance of being prepared for the future. The average lifespan of individuals in the United States of America is getting longer, thus increasing the value of being financially secure to make the most of it.
The author has been involved in the financial management industry for over 20 years and is a highly regarded professional and fiduciary. As a result of his experience, he has many valuable insights on how to effectively plan for the future. The book covers a multitude of topics such as investing, budgeting, retirement plans, the value of having a job you enjoy, enjoying your life before and after retirement, life protection, and social security strategies.
Each chapter is short, concise, and filled with decent jokes that make the book light and enjoyable to read. His section on debunking social security myths is particularly enlightening as it will help the reader rethink some aspects of retirement that are often misconstrued. I liked how simply the concepts were explained, making them easy to understand without needing to have prior knowledge of financial jargon.
Alan Fleischauer’s expertise in financial management is evident throughout the book through the level of detail and information. The author mixes in relevant statistics throughout the book without them being too overpowering. He states that 67% of Americans do not have a retirement plan and 32% do not have a financial plan, highlighting how overlooked financial management is even though it is such an important matter.
The book is focused on the American individual as this is where the author resides. However, that does not stop it from being useful to international readers. The main principles that the book highlights will be a welcome addition to any individual when they draw up their financial plan and there are numerous tips to consider on how to use financial instruments.
Reconfigurement is professionally edited, excellently researched, insightful, and enjoyable to read. Thus, I give the book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is at least 18 years old. It is never too early nor too late to start planning for the future. The guidelines contained in this book will be extremely valuable, no matter where you live. Even those who have a plan in place will learn some useful techniques that they can use to adjust their financial plans to increase their well-being, both in the present and in the future.
