Reconfigurement is a financial book written by E. Alan Fleischauer, a licensed financial planner. He asserts that with the increase in the life span of the average man, it has become imperative for us to revisit our old beliefs about retirement because these beliefs have left retirees with less to live on than they initially planned. It emphasizes the importance of planning, something people don't seem to do a lot of. We tend to dive headfirst into a situation and hope that it takes us where we want to go.

To arrive at the desired destination, one must have both the knowledge of where he is going and how he will get there. In the same manner, Reconfigurement is a book written to lead a person to their ideal retirement life. In it, he provides the readers with a lot of helpful insight necessary for retirement planning.

This book teaches you how you can make the most of your time as an employee to maximize your efficiency and yield the most for you in later years. As he says, you must have a source of income. Another thing he stresses is that you learn how to protect that income. He also goes into detail about the different ways one can go about protecting their income.

Many retirees have termed retirement a "late-life crisis," because it seems when they get to that point, they become stuck, not knowing what to do with their lives. E. Alan Fleischauer points out that retirement doesn't need to be the boring, unfulfilling life that people tag it as. He argues that it could be a turning point, an opportunity that we need to turn our lives around and go after our dreams and aspirations.

Rather than just assuming the role of a teacher, E. Alan Fleischauer also assumed a learning position, which made him come off as genuine and helpful. I have to say, this book was written with the readers in mind. Unlike many books on the same subject, it does not just seek to bombard the reader with facts; instead, it seeks to be engaging. The jovial and informal tone he used to discuss the subject appealed to me. It made a topic that would have otherwise been boring more interesting to me.

This is a very educative book that seeks to address a financial problem that is prevalent in today's world. This would be my second time reading a book by E. Alan Fleischauer, the first one being JT's World—a fictional, western novel. Though a different genre from JT's World, this book still did not disappoint. I would rate it 4 out of 4 stars as I have no negative comments about it. I would recommend it to anyone with a working career, regardless of their age.
